We tried this after a very long tiring day of wine tasting and it leapt out of the glass at us, shook our hand, slapped us in the face and completely bowled us over. We have been friends ever since. A blend of Corvina and Sangiovese it has been produced using the ripasso method so there is intent dark rich and tart cherry fruit flavours with a distinct raisin and fruit cake savoury edge at the front, while along the rest of the queue are hints of herbs, dark lurking spices, dark bitter chocolate, a little coffee, a little creamy cassis and maybe the remnants of an unfinished black forest gateaux. This is a brilliant wine and deserves to be snapped up and given a good home.
