Carruthers & Kent is a specialist wine and bottle shop, deli, wine bar and venue for events and wine classes, owned and run by Claire and Mo. We started out on different paths, Claire as a graphic designer and Mo as a political economist. Claire segued into wine working for Oddbins and Mo via the business itself. In our previous incarnations, we travelled widely, particularly thriving on the Continental vibe in Europe, discovering how movements like ‘slow food’ were having a positive impact on local communities. Most importantly we discovered the magic of enoteca’s operating throughout Italy and our ambition to set up our own business crystallised. Some wine qualifications and a lot of hard work later, Carruthers & Kent arrived in Newcastle.
