Fattoria dei Barbi is located in the district of Montalcino and registered for Brunello di Montalcino production.
The vineyards are planted at an altitude of between 350 and 500m a.s.l. with an exposure to the South East. The vines are at least 15 years old and planted in a gravely soil with small amounts of clay and alluvial deposits. The harvest took place by hand during the last weekend in September and the first week in October. The fermentation lasted nearly 3 weeks with the juice kept in contact with the skins. After the fermentation process the wine was aged in French and Slovenian oak for a period of 2 years. Once bottled the wine was allowed to rest for a further 6 months prior to release.
Powerfully structured, this is an austere, warm, amply flavoured wine with a deep ruby to brick-red colour and a richly complex, dry, full and soft palate. A muscular, full-bodied wine with great richness.
