Al Scheid first saw untapped potential in Monterey County in 1972 when the wine region was in its infancy. What started as a grape growing operation that sold 100% of its production to other wineries today has evolved into a grapes-to-glass family business that crafts authentic and elegant wines. All our vineyards as well as winery is 100% sustainably certified as well as BRC certified. The Scheid Family Wines portfolio includes a wide range of labels form entry level to premium. To mention a few: Scheid Vineyards, District 7, Metz Road, VDR and Stokes’ Ghost, Ranch 32, Ryder Estate, Odd Lot.
For this Chardonnay, grapes were whole-cluster pressed and slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to enhance the aromatics. A portion of the wine saw French oak (50% new) and underwent malolactic fermentation to add viscosity and complexity.
